Blurry Vision at Night

Today is November 5, 2023 and here in the United States we turned our clocks backwards by one hour. This means earlier during the day the sun will begin to set and for most of us we will leave work and drive home in the dusk and dark. This time of year can be a problem for those who have eye conditions that are exacerbated at night. This non-exhaustive list includes:

Astigmatism

Cataracts

Myopia (Nearsightedness)

Ocular Surface Disorders (Corneal Scars, Dry Eye, Fuchs, Keratoconus, Pellucid Degeneration, etc…)

Retinitis Pigmentosa

Helpful Suggestions:

Care for your glasses by cleaning the lenses more often.

Clean your vehicle’s headlights, mirrors (inside and outside), and windshield (inside and outside).

Now is the time to add an anti-reflective coating to your lenses.

Don’t look directly into the headlights of oncoming vehicles.

Visit your Optometrist for an eye health exam. If you have any disorder of the visual system that makes your vision worse with dusk and night hours, care for your eyes by following your doctor’s recommendations to increase your comfort level during this time of year.
